HIGH SCHOOL
To those of us lucky enough not to be in high school anymore, high school films can have a strange effect. For some it makes them feel old. For others they remember what it was like to not be as cool as me. For me I realise that the amount of drinking and studying I did were above and below the world-wide norms, respectively. Do high school movies reflect the way kids are? These days you don't even get a nice range of breasts to look at, and no one seems to get really boozed. They do seem to use more drugs, but there's something amazingly dull about filmic drug-taking, and something truly repulsive about drug-user's breasts. So maybe it makes sense that no one wants to see anyone's tits anymore.
But before I get on my high horse about how awesome things were when I was in school in 1979, when I was pooing my nappies, thekids in Rock 'n' Roll High School didn't just drink, they snorted cocaine and then blew their fucking school up. Which makes me sort of glad I was only one at the time, but also puzzled as to how there's a sequel starring Corey Feldman.
