How To Prove Anything With Mathematics
2. The Mandroid3000 Enigma

I have recently learnt the following about Mandroid3000: He hasn't been made yet and he has been surfing the net for over 1000 years.

If we assume that this is actually the case, is there an explanation? Perhaps. Can it be explained with mathematics? Of course.

Some people claim that the internet was born in 1965 with the inception of the ARPAnet. Thus if Mandroid has been surfing the internet for over 1000 years then he must have been surfing sometime after 2965. However, there are no confirmed sightings of Mandroid3000 before the late 1970’s so we will assume that he must have begun surfing the internet sometime after the mid 1970’s and was also doing so after 2980, 1000 years later.

At this stage, you are probably concerned about the fact that it is only the year 2005. As mentioned earlier, Mandroid3000 has not been made yet. There are credible sources that will testify to the physical existence of Mandroid3000 so we must assume that he has been made.

Here is my explanation. Mandroid3000 was made some time after 2980, perhaps in the year 3000. This would explain his curious title. After his creation, he passed the time surfing the net. At some point after 2980, perhaps disgusted by the state of late 30th century cinema, he decided to travel back in time to the late 1970’s. He may have chosen his arrival to coincide with the premier of Star Wars in 1977. As the 1980’s rolled around and the blockbuster ruined the cinema for a generation of poor souls, Mandroid3000 returned to his beloved internet and began to surf again. He is still doing so in 2005. I am not sure why he did not return to the 30th century. Perhaps he wanted to witness first-hand the Tarantino era, or perhaps he knows something we don’t. Either way we are stuck with him.
