SERENADE BY ANTHONY BENFELL Found by Jiggy and Mandroid3000
In 1982, Golden Editions Ltd N.Z. released this collection of ballads by Auckland singer Anthony Benfell. It featured such evergreens as Bonnie Mary of Argyle, 'Tis the Day (Mattinata), and the ever-popular and clumsily-titled Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms.
To compare and contrast, to the right is a picture of Sloth singing I'll Walk Beside You to Chunk.
On the back of the record sleeve Benfell's rather unhumorous biography makes him sound disappointingly competent. I actually have a record player, but a workmanlike rendition of An Eriskay Love Lilt does not tempt me to spin this.
