Karate Party Profiles A Man Like Any Other The pseudonym "A Man Like Any Other" points subtly to the true name of its bearer, the Eastern mystic Am Lao. Born in an obscure village, called simply “the hill” in his native tongue, Lao demonstrated great spiritual acuity even from the womb. His direct spiritual intercession some weeks before his birth led to Southampton’s shocking FA Cup victory over Manchester United. This in turn inevitably led to the downfall of world communism. Growing up, Lao progressed quickly through the ranks at his country’s main temple, serving in turn as acolyte, avatar of the fertility goddess, high priest and even book-burner general. His later violent swings between Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity and atheism alienated many of his admirers, who thought him fickle and confused. Only a few recognised that his view has at all times been a pure mirror of truth in a volatile cosmos. Lao’s benevolent shepherding of world events has seen him in many roles, from suave drug courier to burly hardware salesman to Japanese pop idol. The powers of darkness have begun to conspire against him in recent years, culminating in his being tried as an Israeli spy. After his body double, Uriel Kelman, begged to be allowed to suffer injustice in his place, Lao sought refuge amongst the faceless bureaucrats of Wellington. There he remains to this day, waiting for his enemies to be consumed by their own evil. |
