The world is full of holidays that have lost their meaning and Karate Party cries a tear for each, and May Day most of all. In days past May Day was a time for poll dancing (in a manner of speaking), vast military parades in totalitarian states and socialist types to enjoy kicking about on the streets. What part do we miss the most? It is a toss up between the latter two, given Karate Party’s well known dislike of rustic villagers and their fertility dancing. But how can we combine these two to deliver synergies to our readers? The Chief-editor and I don’t know, but we will work on it. In a slightly surreal turn of events local Wellington newspaper, the Dominion Post devoted an entire page of their weekend paper to the on-going Chuck Norris as an immovable force of nature fad. It is rather strange to see an Internet fad hit the mainstream press like this, especially when said press is the Dominion Post, keep on trucking guys. Walking to work today I saw the poster for the Da Vinci Code movie, which from a distance looked just like the Revenge of the Sith posters from last year. Is this another case of unconscious imitation? Karate Party’s favourite link is a little different this week, being a news story rather than a cool site. However the idea of a Pirates vs. Ninja Day participant being assaulted by police, perhaps slightly hyped by the War on Terror, was just too awesome to not link. This partially makes up for the solid defeat of my favoured poll option this week, guys, how could you not want to vote for spats vs gaiters? Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)
