Victorian Africa was a dangerous place, between rampant imperialists and the locals there was a lot of angst and death going on. In modern parlance we would label this as being either emo or a case of epeen stroking, which while amusing really diminishes the significance of the events. So what we need is new slang that describes important political/ historical events while not labouring existing slang that does a different yet equally important job. Perhaps we should write an article on such a topic.
